After two decades, HiSky launches the first direct flight Bucharest - New York
June 7 - historic day for our HiSky partners! The Romanian airline celebrated on Friday, for the first time, the inaugural race with a direct flight to New York, after a break of 20 years!
Flights are scheduled four times a week, with departures from Romania on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
The Airbus A330-200 aircraft, the only one of this type registered in Romania and the first wide-body in the HiSky fleet, took off from Henri Coandă International Airport at 08:30.
The flight duration is approximately 10 hours, with the final destination being John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York.
HiSky announced late last year that it had obtained authorization from the US Department of Transportation to operate these scheduled flights.
Thus, the company became the only one in Romania that simultaneously holds the Foreign Air Transport Operator's Permit and the aircraft capable of non-stop flights of up to 14 hours.
Tickets for these flights are available in two classes of service.
Prices start from 248 euros for economy class and 1,899 euros for business class.
Passengers benefit from catering services that include a hot meal and a snack included in the ticket price.
Also, during the trip, they have access to an entertainment system with multimedia content.
The Airbus A330-200, which allows the company to operate long-haul non-stop flights, arrived in Bucharest at the beginning of the week. This aircraft offers added comfort and connectivity for passengers who choose to travel with HiSky.
HiSky operates regular international flights from Bucharest to destinations such as Brussels, Barcelona, Malaga, Dublin, Chisinau, Bordeaux, Tel Aviv and Frankfurt.
It also offers two domestic routes to Cluj Napoca and Timișoara.
The company also operates regular flights from the airports of Iasi, Baia Mare, Cluj Napoca and Timișoara, as well as charter flights in collaboration with top travel agencies.
According to the statistics regarding the number of transported passengers, HiSky is in fourth place among the airlines operating in Romania, thus consolidating its position on the aviation market in the country.
